SAMUEL SILLAMAN, SR.
The Laurel Thicket community extends its condolences to the family of Sam Sillaman who passed away on January 28, 2021. Sam and his wife Gannie, now deceased, moved to Laurel Thicket III in 1988. Sam was a very loving and giving person that would help anyone he could, expecting nothing in return. Sam enjoyed his friends in the Carolina Trace community where he volunteered with the Macho Men’s Gardening Club. He was a volunteer electrician for Habitat for Humanity of Lee County, Meals on Wheels in Sanford, and drove for Highway to Healing. He was also a proud supporter of the American Red Cross to which he donated many gallons of blood over his lifetime. His interests included golfing, fishing, bowling and was an avid Cribbage player. Sam will be missed by his many friends in Laurel Thicket and Carolina Trace. A tentative graveside service is planned for Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford. Covid-19 guidelines will be followed, and face coverings will be required for those in attendance. Memorial contributions in memory of Sam may be made to: St. Luke UMC, c/o Roofing Campaign, Sanford Meals on Wheels, or to Lee County Habitat for Humanity.
